Certified or Notarised?

A certified translation is where a registered translator signs a declaration to state that the translation is a true and faithful version of the original document.

A notarised translation is where the translator takes the translation to a notary public and swears before this person that the translation is a true and faithful version of the original document. The notary public then signs and stamps the translated documents.

A notarised translation sometimes also has to be legalised by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office which appends an apostille to the translation. R L Translations can arrange for legalisation on your behalf for £50 per document plus VAT.

If you are unsure whether you require a certified translation or a notarised translation, please contact the Foreign and Commonwealth Office which should be able to advise you.

Please note that we are not able to certify or notarise any translations that have not been carried out by R L Translations.
